About Adaminaby

Located 51 km northwest of Cooma and 453 km southwest of Sydney, the current township of Adaminaby has a population of about 400 and is 1021 metres above sea level.

The original town of Adaminaby (which is now under the waters of Lake Eucumbene) came into existence in 1885 although pastoralists had been in the area since the early 1830s. Initially the population of the area was sparse. John Cosgrove and Charles and Henry York were the first settlers and they named one of their large land holdings Adaminaby (probably spelt Adamindumee and possibly meaning either 'a camping or resting place' or 'place of springs' in the language of the local Aborigines).

Cuppladaze

The Shed"Cuppladaze" is the name of Rick and Jude's 160 acre bushland property near Adaminaby in Australia's Snowy Mountains. Its beauty and isolation make it a wonderful and relaxing retreat.

For many years we spent at least one weekend a month there, usually for a "couple-of-days", in a very relaxing environment, and this evolved into a "cuppladaze".

We came to realise that most situations and problems can be resolved in a "cuppladaze". So this website reflects that philosophy.

Our "shed" stands at the top of a high ridge, and just behind it are outstanding views for hundreds of kilometres across the Snowy Mountains. It is over 1 km from our front gate to the shed, along a meandering bush track to the top of the ridge.
